Draft — under legal review

Using Lodestar

Lodestar is a place to read, write and connect texts, run by Argo Academics. By going in you agree to these terms and to the privacy page. If you use it for a class or unit, your institution's own rules also apply.

Your work is yours

You keep all rights in what you write and bring in. You give us only the permission needed to store it, show it back to you, and send it to the processors named on the privacy page to run the features you use. Only bring in texts you are entitled to use.

What you must not do

  • Break the law, or use Lodestar to harm anyone.
  • Try to read another person's account or defeat the limits on the service.
  • Flood the service with requests, accounts or imports, or use it to attack another site.
  • Bring in material you have no right to copy.

We may limit or suspend an account that does.

Records and evidence

A Lodestar record, evidence pack or check shows how a piece of writing was made. It is one input to professional review. It does not prove authorship, and it cannot show that no other help was used. Do not treat it as a verdict.

Say and other model features

Features that use a language model can be wrong. Check what they do. They have daily limits, and may be unavailable.

Closing your account

You can close your account in settings. Closing deletes nothing and you can reopen it by signing in. To have your data erased, write to admin@argoacademics.com.au. Export first: erasure cannot be undone.

The service as it is

Lodestar is provided as it is, without a promise that it will always be available or free of error. Keep your own copy of work that matters: export it from settings. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot be limited.

Changes and law

We may change these terms; the date of the current version is the last change to this page, and continued use after a change means you accept it. These terms are governed by the law of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria.
